HOW TO WRITE ENGAGING CONTENT (part 1)

These pointers should help ensure your content is read, well-received and eventually shared.

Intro

You may be thinking about writing a blog to share your personal experiences, promote your business or establish your presence and expertise online as a visionary / thought leader.

The truth is. Almost anyone can start a blog today that quickly generates a decent-sized audience so long as the content creation is original, compelling and helpful.

Becoming a content creator can be an exciting prospect but still daunting at the same time. So we have come up with some simple steps to help you develop your voice.

1) Make your content useful

Great content always serves a purpose, so you need to be mindful of the audience you are trying to attract. If your post answers a question or is somewhat educational then you’re on the right track.

2) Share your Knowledge

We are all experts in something. So it pays to create content that you know inside out. Let’s face it, who doesn’t want to learn from an expert?

3) Stay focused

There’s nothing more annoying than reading an interesting headline to find that the content doesn’t quite match up. (clickbait). A good rule of thumb to consider when creating content is to respect the reader’s time and try not to deviate from the headline topic. This tip will also bring readers back as they will know what to expect.

4) Stay on trend

There may be plenty of sources online that address the same topic you are covering. A simple way to keep your content fresh is to tie in some current news. Be careful when doing this as it can also make your content look dated after a short period of time.

5) Consistency is the key

Nowadays consumers like to watch on-demand tv rather than wait for their favourite programme to be scheduled on a particular day. This, however, does not take away from the excitement that can occur when privy to a release date. The rules are simple, pick a day that you will release content and stick to it, this will help regular readers keep up to date with your content creations.

Are you ready to turn your knowledge and passion into a regular writing practice?
